Summary

Signet Monitoring and Analysis, a Spartan Controls company, provides emission testing, catalyst services, vibration analysis, and reliability engineering to optimize equipment performance. Based in Red Deer, Alberta, our expert team serves Western Canada, meeting increasing industry demands.

 

We are currently recruiting multiple Emissions Support Technicians to join our Emissions team, based in Edmonton, Red Deer, or Grande Prairie. The successful candidates will work directly at customer sites to support the delivery of emissions analysis and will report to the Manager, Emissions.

 

This position plays a key role in providing turnkey emissions testing and program management services using CEMS-grade emissions analyzers, delivering detailed testing reports, minimizing environmental impact, and ensuring regulatory compliance. In addition, successful candidates will have the opportunity to learn from experienced analysts, develop advanced engine knowledge, and progress toward tuning engines and performing full emissions analysis.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Prepare for site work by helping to organize and pack required testing equipment and materials.
  • Support the operation of emissions testing equipment as directed, ensuring all procedures meet regulatory requirements.
  • Help connect sampling equipment to exhaust stacks as instructed by the Emissions Analyst and in accordance with regulations.
  • Operate aerial work platforms and work safely at heights (typically up to 50 ft; occasionally up to 200 ft).
  • Collect and organize required field data to support emissions testing activities.
  • Assist in verifying that testing data meets regulatory standards before completion, as guided by the Emissions Analyst.
  • Maintain and prepare testing equipment and calibration gases to ensure proper functioning and testing quality under supervision.
  • Support the Emissions Analyst in compiling and completing emissions test reports, ensuring all required details are included.
  • Review and assist with quality-checking reports as assigned and participate in continuous improvement initiatives for better quality and efficiency.
  • Perform on-site support for testing services, ensuring compliance with industry safety standards and following the guidance of the Emissions Analyst.
  • Comply with all health and safety policies and requirements relating to the care, transport, and operation of equipment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Apprenticeship, trade certification, technical diploma, or equivalent hands-on experience in a mechanical field (e.g., Heavy Duty, Automotive, Millwright); a degree in Environmental Science is considered an asset.
  • Proven customer service and communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working at heights and operating manlifts
  • Knowledge and experience with rotating and reciprocating machinery.
  • Basic knowledge of network and IT systems.
  • Highly motivated and entrepreneurial work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and spend significant time on-site; a valid driver’s license is required.
