Summary

We are recruiting for an Instrumentation Engineering Technology Student for an Automation Field Services Specialist role for summer 2026 (May through August).  You will work within a team, providing support to our customers on a range of Spartan products and solutions related to our Machinery Performance business unit.

 

Work Term:    4 months (May – August 2026)

Location:        This position can be based out of our Grande Prairie or Fort St. John locations. Please indicate your location preference in your application.

Role and Responsibilities

The successful student will assist with the following (training provided):

  • Supporting gas compression control and ignition applications with a focus on products and solutions sold through our Machinery Performance business unit, such as:
    • REMVue, PLC and Altronic shutdown & control systems
    • Ignition systems and their components
  • Involvement in installation/repair of other products Spartan Controls supplies to the Oil & Gas industry, including:
    • Fisher valves, regulators, Rosemount transmitters (flow, level, temperature)
    • MicroMotion coriolis meters, IMI vibration sensors

Qualifications and Skills

  • Current Instrumentation Engineering Technology student
  • Demonstrated customer service and sales skills in an industrial environment an asset
  • Solid technical problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Team player with sound work principles
  • Detail oriented
  • Entrepreneurial work ethic
  • Ability and willingness to travel; travel away from home may be required for 3 or 4 days per week, with a potential to be away on weekends

 

Successful Candidates will be eligible for:

  • Overtime pay for all required overtime hours
  • Travel per diems and paid accommodations for any travel required
  • Fully supplied with all Personal Protective Equipment
  • Additional safety training as required
  • Hands-on training
