Summary

We are currently recruiting, internally and externally, for a Technical Sales Specialist (TSS) for the Valves & Actuation (V&A) business group with a focus on Control, Isolate, Protect & Regulate. This position will be based out of Fort McMurray and will report directly to the Fort McMurray Automation Center Sales Manager.

 

Your primary role will be to drive Customer preference for Spartan’s Control, Isolate, Protect and Regulate products, solutions and services. To be successful in this role, you will work very closely with Account Managers, Territory Managers, Technical and Application Specialists to support the BU & account plans, develop trusting Customer relationships, to ultimately grow the business. You will focus on understanding the Customers’ applications, so we can apply the V&A products, solutions and services to create incremental value in our customers operating assets and projects.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Control, Isolate, Protect & Regulate product and application expertise
  • Drive Customer satisfaction and Customer preference for Spartan products
  • Proactively pursue application opportunities and determine customer requirements to support business goals
  • Develop and expand Customer relationships
  • Develop and expand principal relationships to ensure alignment of available services, opportunities and business strategies to customer initiatives
  • Strong understanding of Oil Sands industry processes and valve solutions
  • Support Quantified Business Results (“QBR”) development
  • Strong team approach/collaboration with Account Managers, Technical and Application Specialists
  • Presentation development and delivery
  • Support Customer and Spartan training
  • Support of strategy and price negotiation discussions with Principals
  • Drive growth and deliver on bookings goals across the V&A Group
  • Champion all Valve Business Unit growth initiatives, support planning processes, and plan execution

Qualifications and Skills

  

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent Technology diploma
  • 2-5 years related industry experience
  • Application sales experience is an asset
  • Valve application engineering experience and associated understanding of basic fluid dynamics, process control, and valve engineering specification 
  • Control, Isolate, Protect, and Regulate product knowledge
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability to develop and execute action plan
  • Ability to think ‘Out of the Box’ to develop and deliver solutions for our customers
  • Strong presentations skills (development and delivery)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Well-developed organizational and multi-tasking abilities
  • Strong team player
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Entrepreneurial work ethic; Highly motivated and innovative
  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites throughout the province
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s license
