Summary

We are recruiting for an Instrument Asset Specialist Co-op Student for an 8-month term with our team in Edmonton, starting in May 2026.  The role is focused on working directly with Strategic Customers as a key member of their Automation, Maintenance & Reliability teams in leveraging Emerson Smart Valve & Measurement technologies to drive efficiency, reliability, and cost reduction. 

The role provides a motivated individual the opportunity to gain unique, real-world experience working with Emerson/Spartan technologies while developing a valuable skillset not commonly found in the market.

Role and Responsibilities

To assist with the following (training provided):

•    Develop, enhance, and support the Customer’s maintenance and reliability work processes through the utilization of Emerson technologies and Spartan best practices.
•    Provide an expert level utilization of Emerson’s AMS Device Manager Suite including diagnostics and predictive alert capabilities.
•    Provide direct reliability and technical support for Emerson/Spartan products at both an engineering and maintenance level.
•    Deliver and quantify Customer value 
•    Provide hands-on training and mentorship on the utilization of Emerson’s technologies.
•    Create, improve and/or maintain instrument data integrity, this may include (but is not limited to) diagnostic, maintenance, datasheet, and SIS instrument validation records.
•    Inventory optimization and management 
•    Participate in the development, optimization and execution of instrument and valve turnaround scope

Qualifications and Skills

•    Current student in Electrical or Chemical Engineering; or Instrumentation Engineering Technology
•    Proficiency in MS Office programs; Word, Power Point, Excel
•    Engineering Degree, Instrumentation Technologist Diploma or Instrumentation Journeyman designation from an accredited institution
•    2+ Years industry experience in an operating process facility is an asset
•    Experience working with Emerson devices and AMS Device Manager/Valvelink software is an asset
•    Experience in a Maintenance or Reliability Specialist role is an asset
•    Proven Customer service skills 
•    Effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills 
•    Highly motivated and innovative 
•    Ability to work in team environment 
•    Entrepreneurial work ethic
