Summary
We are recruiting for an Application Specialist Co-op Student on our Measurement Instrumentation and Valves & Actuation Inside Sales team in Edmonton reporting to the Manager, Application Specialists. This will be an 8 or 12 month work term starting in January 2026.
As an Application Specialist you will be handling customer inquiries and requests directly, solving customers valve and actuation challenges through sizing and selection of appropriate equipment, and evaluating opportunities where additional Spartan solutions may add value. Excellent written and oral communication skills will create opportunities for the successful candidate to create a preference for Spartan solutions through the presentation of technical proposals. A positive, outgoing personality, combined with strong communication and relationship building skills, will allow for successful and extensive customer service contact work.
Role and Responsibilities
• Provide day-to-day solutions and customer service to a variety of customers throughout Alberta including the Power, Municipal, Chemical, Heavy Oil, Pipeline, Chemical and Oil and Gas Industries
• Determine customer requirements and provide specification/technical application solutions for control equipment and instrumentation
• Provide troubleshooting assistance of control equipment and instrumentation or refer to appropriate internal expertise
• Collaborate with customers to develop solutions, as required
• Produce quotations, bid proposals, document packages, and order control equipment
• Ensure maintenance/servicing of existing company products and propose replacement/adjustment
• Monitor and maintain awareness of product line modifications and technical specifications
• Presentation development and delivery
• Support formal and informal customer training
Qualifications and Skills
• Enrollment in Post-Secondary education program in Mechanical, Chemical/Process, or Electrical Engineering
• Proficient with MS Office programs; Word, Power Point, Excel
• Strong oral and written communication skills that reflect a professional business approach through phone, email, and in-person.
