Summary
We are currently seeking a talented Application Specialist/Engineer to join our Process Systems & Software (PSS) business unit in Edmonton.
In this role, you will develop innovative automation and digital solutions proposals to meet our customers' evolving needs. Our PSS BU delivers high-value solutions, offering a comprehensive range of applications, including DeltaV systems, industrial software, networking, cybersecurity, data management, alarm management, and advanced process control. To succeed in this position, you should bring a positive attitude, a passion for learning, and a desire to shape a dynamic and growing business. Collaboration with our sales, project, and lifecycle teams is also key to achieving success. This position will report to the Manager, Systems and Software.
Role and Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Spartan sales team to grow our Process Systems & Software business
- Handle customer inquiries and requests for proposals
- Collaborate with our sales team to understand customer needs, determine requirements and develop technical solutions
- Create system architecture and develop solutions with a focus on best customer value and fit-for-purpose design
- Support pricing strategies and negotiation with Spartan principals
- Support successful project pursuit strategies
- Produce quotations and develop proposals
- Provide proactive quote and proposal follow-up
- Ensure efficient and smooth sales to projects hand-over
- Build strong relationships with customers and Spartan principals
- Monitor and maintain awareness of product line modifications and technical specifications
- Provide ongoing technology evaluation and input to our proposal standards
- Work with the sales, project and lifecycle teams to achieve business unit (BU) goals
- Support customers on system lifecycle planning when required
- Work with other business units to develop OneSpartan™ and multi-BU proposals when required
- Participate in our 7/24 on-call rotation
Qualifications and Skills
- Engineering Degree/Technologist Diploma or equivalent credentials
- 3+ years related work experience
- 2+ years direct working experience with DCS platforms (software, configuration, networking, hardware, etc.)
- Knowledge of process industries and processes
- Industrial Networking and Cybersecurity experience an asset
- Familiarity with the Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) landscape, including industry trends, technologies and best practices, is considered an asset
- Ability to identify problems, effectively use resources, generate alternatives, choose and implement a solution
- Strong organizational skills and ability to plan, schedule, prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
- A high degree of dependability and reliability
- Detail oriented
- Willingness to learn and desire to advance technical skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and embrace change
- Entrepreneurial work ethic
- Proficient in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Visio, etc.
