Summary
The Technical Sales Specialist role in Combustion Management, based in Calgary, focuses on developing and supporting combustion solutions while fostering long-term customer relationships in industrial process industries. This position involves collaboration within a combustion team, applying expertise in combustion technologies to meet customer needs and business growth objectives.
The role offers mentorship from combustion experts and involves working within a supportive, dynamic sales team focusing on mid-tier applications and service support development as part of an expanding combustion business strategy. This role will proactively support business, understanding combustion applications, maintain customer relationships and safety codes. While participation in industry events and continuous learning is expected, we also want collaboration with sales and service teams to deliver positive outcomes.
Implementing proven and new technologies in the field of combustion, the successful candidate will work within our sales team on Burner Management Systems (BMS), Combustion Control Systems (CCS), fuel trains and burner applications.
Role and Responsibilities
- Proactively pursue and support business and applications with our customers in a variety of industrial process industries
- Work effectively within the Combustion Team to deliver business goals and objectives aligned with Spartan’s business strategy
- Maintain and build positive relationships, establishing customer confidence with our application knowledge and our broad offering of solutions, products and services
- Possess a strong understanding of combustion applications, industry codes, (e.g. CSA B149/NFPA) and safety with experience of industrial processes and appliances
- Own and support initiatives and strategies while contributing to safe and efficient solutions on behalf of the Combustion Business
- Create awareness, understanding, and confidence for Spartan’s IP-centric solutions
- Support a multi-business unit model and development to deliver complete solutions
- Support our Application Sales team (Inside Sales) and Field Service specialists while working closely with our Territory and Account Managers
- Strive for continuous learning and curiosity to understand applications, available solutions and products, services and business strategies
- Support and participate in various Industry Association conferences, education, and training seminars for continued learning
Qualifications and Skills
- Engineering degree or technical diploma with applicable field experience
- 3 - 5 years related industry experience
- Ability to develop and deliver proposals, presentations and training material
- Experience with CSA B149.3/MSAPR regulations in combustion environment
- Demonstrated Customer Service and Sales with industrial customers
- Highly motivated, innovative, and a self-starter with technical problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Positive team contributor and collaborator with an entrepreneurial work ethic
- Valid driver’s license and passport, as travel in Spartan territory is required
