Summary
We are currently recruiting for a Network / Cyber Security Specialist Co-op Student for a 12 or 16 month term to work with our Industrial Networking & Cybersecurity Team in Calgary. Reporting to the Manager, Lifecycle Services, you will work within a team to assist with design, testing, installation, and ongoing support and troubleshooting of networking hardware and software focused on connectivity and cybersecurity for our customers.
Role and Responsibilities
To assist with the following (training provided):
- Support industrial network design activities, technical support for customers
- Support hands-on OT cybersecurity red and blue team activities in live industrial environments, including adversary simulation, detection and response, secure remote access, endpoint hardening, vulnerability remediation, and system recovery.
- Work with customers’ automation, IT, and OT groups
- Assist with the creation of documentation for client use
- Work collaboratively with the Industrial Networking & Cybersecurity Team to improve internal processes
- Travel to customer sites may be required, however the current expectation is most of the work will be executed from Spartan Controls offices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Current Engineering or Engineering Technologist student: Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Information Systems Security or Bachelor of Technology Cybersecurity programs
- Demonstrated Customer Service and Sales in an industrial environment an asset
- Knowledge of ethernet switches, firewalls, routers
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, security policies, and common controls
- Knowledge of virtualization systems (VMware and Hyper-V) is an asset
- Proficiency in MS Office programs; Word, Power Point, Excel, Visio
- Solid technical problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Collaborative team player and strong work principles
- Excellent office organizational and operational skills
- Detail oriented
- Entrepreneurial work ethic
- This position has been deemed as Safety Sensitive – successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment Alcohol and Drug test.
