Summary
We are recruiting Co-op/Internship students to join our innovative Data Management team. The successful candidates will contribute to the installation, data connectivity, and system integration of industrial data software applications, providing valuable support to our customer-focused initiatives.
Work Term: 16 months, starting May 2026
Role and Responsibilities
As a Co-op/Intern Student, you will have the opportunity to:
- Design, configure, develop, and test purpose-built data solutions in collaboration with customers. Development is a mix of Frontend and Backend (Platform logic) development.
- Installation, data connectivity and system integration of the following software applications (AspenTech Inmation, AVEVA PI, Capstone DataPARC and Aspentech IP.21)
- Testing of existing software applications for on-premise, virtual, and cloud-based deployment
- Contribute to the creation of documentation for client use.
- Creation of operational displays and dashboards.
- Creating of asset hierarchical templates for managing customer data.
- Collaborate with the broader Digital Solutions team to enhance internal processes.
- Manage incident response and service requests, providing troubleshooting and support for software applications.
- The current expectation of all work being executed from the Spartan Controls office.
Qualifications and Skills
- We're looking for a current undergraduate student, preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- Students enrolled in a post-secondary Co-op/Internship program, returning to school in September 2026 are preferred.
- Solid technical problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- Possess a foundational understanding of computer programming, encompassing knowledge of data structures, algorithms, concurrent programming, and elements of operating systems design.
- Experience with Lua programming language or equivalent (Python, JavaScript) is a useful - emphasize this proficiency in your application.
- Valuable expertise in databases (SQL, MongoDB), and visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) is an asset, please highlight in your application.
- Familiarity with databases and process data historians (e.g. AVEVA PI), or visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) is advantageous – training will be provided.
- Demonstrated Customer Service in a professional environment is an asset.
- Collaborative team player and strong work principles.
- Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Power Point, Excel)
- Detail oriented with an entrepreneurial work ethic.
