Summary
We are currently recruiting for an engineering/technology student to work within our Industrial Applications team based at the Calgary Solutions Centre. The student will report to the Manager, Operations. The expectations of the successful candidate include supporting the business growth through our initiatives, leveraging engineering growth strategies, and fostering team relationships with fellow Spartans.
Work Term: May 2025- August 2026
Role and Responsibilities
To assist with the following (training provided):
- Process, Mechanical or Electrical
- Gather and document application functional requirements
- Develop and review the project documentation
- Support the spirit of teamwork and collaboration
- Provide supportive technology evaluation and participation to serve the strategy of delivering proper, safe design to our customers through proposals, solutions and standards
- Support the development of customer proposals (engineered designs) supporting control process architecture, chemical and material compatibility, detailed technical descriptions and review of concepts related to your discipline
- Support within our engineering team
- Collaborate internally and effectively with other Spartan Business Units to support combination of engineering initiatives like solutions, P&ID and control narrative development
- Contribute feedback, ideas and input to continually enhance and grow our designs and business
- Assist with feature engineering, modelling, digital transformation, and other application learning/reinforcement learning activities
Qualifications and Skills
- A current student pursuing an undergraduate degree in Engineering, ideally Mechanical or Electrical
- Willingness to learn standards, architectures and technical equipment specifications
- Cooperative nature, ability to see the big picture and manage individual vs team goals
- Ability to multi-task, focus on objectives and focus in a dynamic work environment
- Proficient in Word, Excel and Visio
- Technical writing experience an asset
- Effective interpersonal, communication, and organizational skill set
- Manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic work environment
- Detail and solutions driven
- Technical problem solver with cautious creativity
- Able to demonstrate the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
