We are currently recruiting for an Account Manager with strong emphasis on Business Development, to be based in either Burnaby, BC or Prince George, BC.  The successful candidate will be a driven, self-starter who enjoys a challenge and is motivated to seek out and pursue new business opportunities. With keen analytical skills, you are able to understand the Customer’s situation and deliver exceptional solutions and services that are tailored to their needs. You will lead sales activities and implement growth plans by understanding, recognizing, and creating strategic business opportunities. Success in this position means leading by example, as an active team player who strengthens business relationships and takes responsibility for each and every Customer. The successful candidate will report to the Burnaby Sales Manager.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Focus on value our Customers want and expect
  • Proactively pursue business with various customers across multiple B.C. industries
  • Business development focus to identify new opportunities
  • Engage Customers across their entire organization, from front-lines to senior-level executives
  • Deliver bookings results for all business units within Spartan Controls
  • Leverage One Spartan capabilities to drive business growth for Spartan
  • Interface with multiple clients/multiple business units to deliver overall Spartan business strategy and initiatives for growth and market penetration 
  • Understand and communicate Customer needs and business strategy/initiatives to ensure Spartan's continued leadership in delivering creative solutions
  • Develop account leadership through effective strategic account/industry planning and development
  • Build strong mutually beneficial enduring relationships
  • Lead a focused Spartan team delivering increased Customer loyalty and profitable growth

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors' Degree in Engineering or a Technical Diploma in a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years proven successful track record in a sales and business development role within a team environment
  • Experience with consultative front-line sales activities necessary to maintain and grow business
  • Broad understanding of Spartan products, services, and solutions
  • Proven track record of being an Out-of-Box thinker 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly effective at building long-term relationships
  • Strong ‘Customer First’ focus
  • Strong ability to understand business principles and contracting strategies
  • Experience in presenting complex concepts, deal making and negotiating contracts
  • Ability to qualify leads and opportunities
  • Growth and results oriented
  • Entrepreneurial work ethic with a “do what it takes” attitude
  • Valid driver’s license; regular travel is required
